Lagoa Misteriosa Trail and Snorkelling
Hiking and Snorkelling
We begin the tour with an interpretive trail through the forest surrounding the sinkhole, offering an opportunity to observe the region's rich diversity of fauna and flora.
The trail leads to an observation deck, from which we can view the arboreal vegetation that covers the 75-meter-deep sinkhole, the Lagoa Misteriosa.
Access to this lagoon with blue waters is via a safe staircase with 185 steps. Groups are limited to ten visitors and are always accompanied by a specialised local guide.
Upon arriving at the access deck to the Mysterious Lagoon, visitors receive the snorkelling equipment: a mask, a snorkel, and a life jacket. Those who choose not to snorkel can visit the lagoon and admire the blue tone of its crystal-clear waters from the observation deck.
Snorkelling is indescribable: the view of the two blue abysses that form the lagoon is impressive. The vertical rock walls, fallen tree trunks, white sand deposits, branches with golden leaves, and small fish that shimmer in the beams of light transform the Mysterious Lagoon into a unique environment.
At a depth of 8 meters, two channels open up, approximately 10 meters in diameter, descending vertically to depths over 240 meters.
Floating in such transparent waters above an abyss feels like flying, as if you were suspended in the air.
After snorkelling, which follows a circular circuit in the Mysterious Lagoon, we return to the deck, retrieve the equipment, climb the stairs, and walk another short stretch of interpretive trail to the Lagoa Misteriosa reception area.
